Preschool Program
for the 4-5s
Our Plants Room for children ages 4 to 5 years old beautifully integrates the principles of the Creative Curriculum within a Montessori framework. Here, children expand their language skills, engage with new problem-solving challenges, explore early math concepts, and refine their motor skills—all in a nurturing Montessori environment. The curriculum supports these young learners as they follow their innate curiosity, choosing activities that ignite their interest and deepen their understanding. This freedom not only cultivates their sense of responsibility and self-discipline but also enhances their learning experience.

Children at this age exhibit significant social and emotional growth. Our educators encourage the young learners to engage in imaginative play and pretend play, which helps develop empathy and creativity. Their desire to interact with peers is evident as they ask to play with friends when none are around, fostering social connections. In our program, our educators model empathy by example and help cultivate our young learners’ compassion and interpersonal skills by comforting others who are hurt or sad. Additionally, children at this age adapt their behaviors to different environments, showing calmness in places of worship or libraries and excitement on the playground, demonstrating growing emotional and situational awareness. Our educators are here listening to their needs and helping guide them to become more independent, mindful, and respectful individuals.

Our program help children at this enhance their language and communication skills by using research-based and scientific methods. Our educators help model active listening to show our learners how to pay attention to and respect others' speech, boosting their communication skills and also encourage our young learners to construct sentences with more words, to deepen their understanding of language structure.

In our program, our young learners discover the joy of math through engaging, hands-on experiences that help them build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts. Our educators guide them through this journey, starting with tangible materials that make math feel like play. As the children grow more confident, our educators gently lead them to connect these real-world experiences with math symbols and language. They also encourage lively discussions where the children can share their thoughts and explain their understanding. This natural progression from concrete to abstract thinking is essential for developing a deep and lasting understanding of math, all while nurturing their curiosity and love for learning.

Our program integrates social studies through hands-on activities and materials that foster an understanding of geography, culture, and community. Children explore the world using globes, maps, and cultural materials, develop practical life skills by preparing food from different countries and learning about traditional customs, and engage with stories and books about historical figures and events. Celebrations of diverse cultural and historical events are part of our curriculum, enhancing respect for global diversity. Additionally, community engagement is encouraged, with local artists, musicians, and leaders sharing their experiences to enrich children's learning and understanding of their place in the world.

In our program, 4-5 year-olds benefit significantly in terms of physical development through a blend of structured physical education, playground time, and outdoor outings. Our physical education sessions are designed to enhance gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, teaching children essential movements such as running, jumping, and throwing. The playground offers a natural extension of these skills, allowing children the freedom to explore and refine their physical abilities in a safe, nurturing environment. Outings further enrich this development by exposing them to varied terrains and real-world physical challenges, promoting adaptability and resilience. This comprehensive approach not only boosts their physical health but also supports their overall confidence and well-being, preparing them for a healthy and active lifestyle.
